Ignition Wires and Headers

Hello-

What are some solutions being used to protect your spark plug boots. My boots are burning up constantly. The wires are fine and well routed. My boots are about ½ to an 1 inch from the headers. The boots that are an inch are ok the 4 that are closer burn up. My headers are not coated at this time. I will have them coated when it snows. Right now I want to run the car.

How are the Jacobs ceramic wires? They cost $181.00

How are the protector boots for $50.00

How are the wire protectors for $38.00, I thought this was good to preserve the wire longer.

My thought is that if I buy all the boots and protectors I might as well by the jacobs wires and be done. They practically cost about the same when all is added up.

Wires - $80 + Boot covers $50 + Wire Covers $38 = $168.00

How are the Moroso and or MSD replacement boots.

Again, My wires are fine. My boots are getting heat soaked then they crack. The wires are fine. Stubby plugs are not an option since they do not make them for AFR Aluminum heads.

What are other options.

Frank

I would say coating is the biggest step to boot longevity, i have coated slp 1 3/4 headers with AFR heads and there is very little clearance. I also run the Accell extream 9000 wires they have impregnated boots ( silver), after 4 months they are in like new shape. I also get the custom fit and route them with extream care and use dielectric grease in the boots to stop them from sticking.

also i think the Jacobs ceramic boots are rather large and may actually contact ( in my application ) the headers, i don't think it will work too well touching

I'm using the Design Engineering plug wire boot protectors.
http://www.designengineering.com/
They sell all kinds of heat-insulation supplies.
Haven't lost a plug wire since installing them.
