Head ????

Hey all, I have a set of "H.O." heads for a 305, the question is, what is the primary differance between the standard LG4 head and the "H.O." head. I am not sure what motor the H.O. heads came off of but I was told they were H.O..

There is no difference. They are both 416 castings (86 back, that is) with 1.84"/1.5" valves. Lots of things are different between the L69 and LG4, but the heads are not among them.

Every motor or part that somebody wants to get more money for, suddenly magically mystically miraculously morphs into a "HO", "from a Vette" (or my all-time favorite "out of a Vette"), or "police interceptor", or some other of a short list of buzzwords. I hope you didn't pay extra because of the tall tale, or buy them solely for that reason; if you did, you are the victim of a scam.

thanks RB83, they were given to me so I'm not out any money, I took them as a potential mod for my LG4 motor but now I'm building a 412 sbc so i don't need them. I was just curious about them, they are from a newer motor because they have the center cover bolts, not that that matters.

thanks again for the info.

The 081 or 083 are about the best ci centerbolt castings
and respond well to porting and bigger valves.

The swirl port heads are not worth trying to use in a build up.
Lots of swirl no flow.

062's or 906's are Vortecs good heads for a build up.
