I just put a new fuel filter in my 89 RS because it seemed like it was clogged and probably was. Now whenever i go to start it up, and i give it some gas and it putters and acts like it wants to die, and also it pops really loud almost like a backfire noise. It will do that when its cold but once i drive a little and get it warmed up, it acts normal for the most part. Can anybody help me?!?

 

Your fuel pump might be on the way out...........
