Valve float?
I GOT A COMP XE 268 CAM WITH VORTECH HEADS WITH THE Z28 SPRING. IT SOUNDS LIKE THE VALVES ARE FLOATING AROUND 4800 RPMS AND I WOULD LIKE TO SHIFT AROUND 5500-6000 DO YOU THINK THAT THESE SPRINGS ARE GOOD ENOUGH OR SHOULD I GO WITH THE ONES COMP CAMS RECOMENDS. BY THE WAY IF I DO CHANGE THE SPRINGS WILL I NEED TO MACHINE THE HEAD? ITS ALREADY BEEN MACHINED FOR THE Z28 SPRINGS I BELIEVE.

Go with Comp's recommendation (981 springs). That way they'll warranty the cam against lobe wipe-out (hint).
The heads won't require machining; they're the same diameter as the "Z28" (IMHO, stock replacement truck parts) springs.
And please learn to type without the caps lock, it's extremely hard to read and obnoxious, kind of like shouting at everybody. "I've always done it that way" is no excuse.
