Hypothetical Question about heads.

I plan on getting a set of world torquer 305 heads which have a 58cc chamber. Well say down the road the 305 takes a crap (it will someday) and I get a 350. If I got a 350 with say a 8.5 compression ratio how high would my compression be with the 58cc heads? oh and say the 8.5 is ith 64cc heads. I was just wondering because I cant swap motors right now but I definetly plan on it down the road.

it woud probably be around 9:1 or around there.
BUT, the heads are desiged for a305, they have small valves, smaller runners, and the like.

there was a post awhile ago about this and i think i remember them saying both the 05 head and the regular torquers have 170cc runners. yes the valve are smaller they are 1.94/1.60 but thats what the zz4 motor runs so im guessing you can make power with the smaller valves. if the compression is only about 9.1:1 i could probably run alittle n2o correct?

It would depend on the actual specs of your future 350
but if you swapped heads on a 8.5:1 350 that had dished pistons
and 76 cc heads (like the GM Goodwrench base crate motor)
with 58cc heads your cr would be right around 9.75:1

a 64cc heads would result in a 9.16 cr

You could also make these heads work on a future
flat top piston motor. You'd just remove 3 to 4 cc's out of each combustion chamber to get a -10:1 cr for pump gas.

There are many books on modifying cylinder heads to show you where to enlarge the chambers on S/R's too best effect.

Sounds good. Ill probably go that route then. I was reading up on them and it seems like the S/R 305s are exactly like the regular S/Rs except for the CC size and the valves. Can't you have heads milled or something to accept bigger valves?

Are you planning on building a 400hp plus 350? If not, then the 305 Torquers will work just fine on a 350.

I was looking at maybe 350 or less HP. Actually 300 would be plenty of hp for me. Then maybe a small shot of n2o if I run into a pesky 5.0 or two which I will. But if I had 300hp around here id be able to kill at least 60% of the mustangs easily without n2o.

Car Craft had a 300hp 305 with those heads so a 350hp 350 with those heads and a bigger cam is pretty easy to build Im sure.

i talked to a tech guy at trick flow before i bought the 23* heads. He said with the trick flows (64cc) and my goodwrench motor (8.5:1), it will get approximately 9.6:1 compression. I'm not sure how accurate that is, but that is what he said.

I'd say at least 330hp and 350tq, with the proper intake manifold.

Yeah put a Holley Stealth 4bbl intake on there with a TBI adaptor if you want to run a 670 unit. Sell the Edelbrock.
