My felpro gasket kit didnt come with front and rear intake manifold gaskets, it says to just use RTV??? Does this sound right????
Hmm, on my LG4 intake I used those gaskets, and some RTV, but not sure if the block plays a more important role in that. This was on my new 350.

It's because those things are garbage. I used them once on my brothers 305 and within a day we had oil leaks. Removed those peices of trash and never had a leak after that. Since that day, I've never used them and never had a leak, at least not there.

I don't know why them even make the rubber gaskets anymore, it's common practice to throw them in the trash, when ya use the RTV, I personally use black, but other's I know had luck with the red also. I run a tiny bead around the water jacket on my heads, press the intake gasket into place, the rtv helps hold it and makes sure it seals better. then run another tiny bead around the water jacket on the intake gasket itself, then lay a good 1/4" tall bead starting about a 1/2" up on the intake gasket then across the front of the block and up 1/2" onto the other side intake gasket. Same for the rear. You might say the water jacket use is overkill, but it's never failed me yet, helps with installation, and doesn't hurt a thing.

Agreed. I have about six of those gaskets(except mine were cork) stuck to my garage door. RTV has always worked fine for me.

i use the china wall gaskets if the engine is on a stand i can see and handle the intake with no problems. if the engine is in the car or truck i use ultracopper, either way the last time i had one leak was in 1977 and left me stranded 40 miles from home.

ede were the gaskets the ones with lips on both sides to hug the block or did they have the dicks that stuck down into the holes in the block, I've heard the dicky ones work pretty well, but the huggers not worth a ****.
i would reccomend "GREAT STUFF" silicone, best i've ever used. 1/4" bead is just right, fit your manifold on the gaskets first incase some thing is causing a bigger space. then lay the bead down, give it 5 minits then driop the manifold on, strait down though dont slide it around. Also in the event your a really fast manifold installer, i would make sure it has time to dry before starting the car.
