LT1 intake fit problems ?!!?
LT1 intake fit problems ?!!?
So I go to put my LT1 intake on and I find out it won't fit
Both the crossover EGR ports and the water ports in the head stickout past the lip of the intake by a milimeter or so. I'm afraid the gasket will burst past that and I'll have a water leak if I install it like that. Should I have someone weld some extra aluminum on it ? Anybody else run into this kind of problem ?

On which side do the ports stick out, lifter valley side or valve cover side?
They stick out... by that I mean I'm able to see part of the water ports. So that would be towards the valve cover side ? If it was towards the lifter valley I wouldnt worry about it too much.

Well I just put a victor jr intake on there for now, until I figure out the LT1 intake. But here's a drawing of what happens... The blue lines is the top of the water ports on the heads. That's how they stick out pas the intake lips. The red lines are the top of the EGR ports. They stick out also. I put it on the block with and without gaskets. Doesn't change a thing...

They didn't port the water and EGR ports when you had the heads done did they?

Well I guess that's a possibility... but I didnt ask for it that's for sure. Well the Victor JR i have on there works just fine. Maybe I'll stay carburated after all.... lol Anybody want a new LT1 intake to put on their car ? Ported and polished also ?
I know exactly what you are talking about. I have Dart Iron Eagle II heads and the water passages stick up about 1/16 of a inch past the intake. I was not comfortable with that and had additional aluminum welded on and the intake remachined and it works great
