White ash on spark plugs, what is it?

Hey everyone

I have a carb. 350 in an 89 bird.

Just changed the plugs, all had white ash/coating except for #8, and that one had orange ash. On #8 I am missing a header bolt, will that hurt anything?
So what does this indicate?

also, I put in NGK spark plugs, anyone ever hear of them? The guy at NAPA said the kick ***, and they were only 1.89/plug, he said they were better than Rapid Fires.
They have a V shape on the bottom electrode, that supposedly lets the spark get bigger.

This Picture Should help you out: it's unfortunally barly readable.. but the white ash is usually caused by fuel or oil additives being burned, normally it's harmless, but exsessive amounts can cause misfiring, if deposits are excessive in short mileage, the valve guides may be worn. you can just clean the plugs and re-gap them. The red on the plugs is usaually MMT fouled. this is caused my anti-knock additives used in gas, to replace lead, no engine problems will result in these deposits, you can just clean it off, re-gap the plug..
