My car ... and what it does and doesn't do now
Well I was told to hook my car up to a timing light and retime my car this weekend. When i hooked the gun up to the first sparkplug and looked for the timing line, the placement on the distributor cap was about a half turn off. When i finally found the mark the car wouldn't even idle correctly, so we set it back to where it was idl'eing correctly, and then changed it to what we thought 6 degrees more would be. when i went out to test it. right of the line my back wheels are spinning and my head is in the back of my chair. MUCH better, but what should i do for the spinning just get better traction tires or add a little weght in the back?
thanks again

sounds like you forgot to disconect your vaccum advance line and plug it (ordisconect the little brown wire for EFI cars). If you forget to do that you'll get a false reading and you'll think your timing is too far advanced, and if you retard it (clockwise on the distributor) it wont run right.
Be easier on the gas, and maybe get a limited slip differential.

OHHHH and after i adjusted the timing my temperature gauge broke ... lol it doesn't move its just stuck at the highest temperature.... and NO its not really that hot trust me its running at 160. even if i disconnect the sending unit when the car is running nothing happens? .... i was told by the book to disconnect the wire in the back of the distributor cap, and i put it back in once i was done everything is MUCH better but the temp gauge is bugging me out. any ideas?
