Help: Smoke from air cleaner after car turned off

I have a Carburated 83 Trans Am. After I turn the car off I can see white smoke coming out from the air intake that attaches to the air cleaner assembly. There is a hole on the bottom of that intake about halfway up between the front of the car and the air cleaner. Thats where the smoke is coming from. Sometimes its there when the car is on, but you can really see it after the car is turned off.

Any ideas?
Thanks

Sounds like gas vapors or oil fumes from the crankcase. Have you looked inside the aircleaner? The little foam element might have dropped out or might be missing from the PCV inlet.
