a question or two

i'm looking at a Summit 350 rebuild kit.............

it says that compression will be approx. 9.72:1 with 64 CC heads

i have a set of cast iron 58CC heads

will the compression be too much for the street/ pump gas?

All else being equal, going from 64cc heads to 58cc will raise the comp ratio from 9.72 to 10.4:1.

That's pushing it on an iron head motor. Your cooling system will have to be in 100% condition, and it also depends on what cam you're going to use, as well as the timing curve.

Are you going to use a mech. adv. dist. or CC? What cam are you going with?

That calculation was using a .040" gasket, which is about as thick as they come. Any thicker and you may as well not even bolt the heads on because it's gonna leak just the same.

1991,
Shouldn't be too big a deal. If you want a lot of insurance then polish the combustion chambers. Not only will this increase the cc but will get rid of heat risers which cause predet. this will allow you to use 92 with pretty much whatever initial adv. you choose. So pick up that diegrinder .
