Timing Questions..
Since I've put the 350 in I can' t seem to get the car running perfectly.. The timing is zeroed, and yet still it ticks, do you think if I turn the timing up a little this could help my cause? There was one point that we had the timing almost dead on, and the car had power and it spun tires, and it sounded good, and it didn't tick (lots of ands). Do you thinkt hat the zero for the 305 is not the same zero for the 350??

maybe, maybe not.
Valvetrain ticking I suppose you mean? Assuming that your valve lash is correct, too much timing and you'll get some valvetrain noise. I don't get what you mean by 0-ing the timing out. Are you setting timing with the EST wire disconnected?

If your using a 350 Balancer it will not line up properly with the 305 Timing cover indicator, or Vice versa.
I imagine that is the root of your problem.
Too Much timing advance will causg pining aka detonation, not ticking.
Valve train ticking is unlreated to timing advance.
Sounds like you really need to make sure you have the right timing mark for the balancer you are using, or just try timing it by ear.

I figured all my problems with ticking have to be associated with timing. I've been playing around with it, and when I adjusted it before it asll stopped (then I put a new EST in and it started again) So I guess I'll play with it. If I can I'll try to record the sound and upload it so you can hear it if you'd like.
