AC delete question

In the proces of pulling out the AC. I pulled out all the lines/hoses along with the canister. Can I pull out the big black box on the firewall, or does that have something to do with the heater?

Yes, that has the blower motor for your heat. What I did, was cut that box in half, if you want, my brother made a custom delete box that you can buy. Try a search on the tech board for my pics of it I posted. I just haven't had time to put it on myself.

Part of it containes a condensor and part a blower motor. Like mark siad just cut it in half and cover the hole or buy a box out of a car that didn't come with ac.

If you cover the hole and I assume you mean just block it off, then he will have no heat.

a buddy of mine totalled his s15...it had a non AC box which i wanted off of it but insurance took the truck before I had a chance to snag it

With a non AC box it looks so much better. Also allows ALOT more room to do plugs and header bolts. I cant wait to get a non AC box and a AC delete pulley.

Well funny you say that! You would think that in the winter without the fan motor, or the box that it would get pretty cold huh. Not the case for me. My damn engine compartment contains so much damn heat it was enough to get through that hole and sweat me out. LOL, I was the only moron going down the road with the windows open in 30 degree weather. Can you imagine what it would have been like for me in the summer!!??

What I mainly mean is, defrost is a must. Specially in the winter or sometimes when it rains out.

the radiator fan pushed enough air through to get into the duct and flow out the defrost for me!! Don't know if thats the case with anyone else.

Mark My conversion to right-hand drive meant that some idiot put the steering post right thru the lower right hand corner of the heater box. Wasnt sealed properly and I was wondering if I could only block of that section of the box with some Armaflex or insulating material? Would I have enough room working from the inside of the box given that the evap. is there? There is a lot of cool air escaping from around the shaft. (lower right means facing the heater box from the front of the car) Saw on your post about your brother cutting the box in half and thought that you might know. Thanks
