anyone know werei can get rpo codes for my car. i think the kid who had the car before me replaced the console door and threw out the old one with the sticker on it. the gm dealer said they only do it for 90+ year firebirds.

Ok, I'll bite!

That's the only place I've heard of for the RPO code sheet, but you might find the build sheet in the car somewhere (even better than the RPO sheet! Descriptions!)

I've found them under the floor mat in the cargo area, inside the spare tire well, underneath the dash pad, under the front and rear seats, and on top of the gas tank.

Good luck!

I'm not positive on the '89s, but the models I've seen with the RPO label in the console have them affixed to the SIDE of the console well, not the lid. If your's isn't there, you might want to look in the rear storage compartment (on the left side of the rear cargo well). I know the '91s I've seen have them there, and your's might also.

As Poncho stated, the build sheet would be even better, so you might want to hunt for that too. Other places to look are behind the kick panels, sail panels in the rear seats, and under the dash cover.

I had the same problem. I started by going to the chevrolet web site (I have a camaro) and calling the customer service line. I spoke with a girl who was really nice. She looked up my vin and read the rpo codes and their description to me over the phone. She gave me lots of cool info like what dealership originally sold the car etc.

She also put me in touch with the vintage vehicle division in canada. For a nominal fee they will be sending me a complete history of my car including a factroy invoice. I havent' gotten it yet I only know what the guy on the phone told me. There is also a guy that responded to my post requesting help that looked up the RPO codes for me at work and faxed them to me. I've got his e-mail if your interested.

E-mail me and I'll give you his info.

Good luck.

It's a '91. I couldn't belive that a place called "vintage vehicle" division would have info on a car 11 years old.
