hooking up a tach

hooking up a tach

heres the deal, i've got a tach my friend gave me that was in his car...all i have to go off of is that there are 4 wires. They are red, white, black and green. which goes where? help!

going from when i hooked one up to my friends volkswagon..


red is a 12 volt source.
black is a body ground.
white was the interior lighting.
and green was the negative side on his coil.
