What do you think of this setup?

396ci
accel super ram
87-91 (is there any difference?) ported corvette heads
1 3/4" longtubes w/ an x-pipe and bullets
209*/217*, .503"/.522" hydrolic roller

now... is there any way I can make the T5 hold this kind of power without spending a fortune? or am I gonna be looking for a T56... same goes for the rear end.. can I just get a nice posi unit and gears or is this 9" territory?

SBC? i'd run aftermarket heads and i'd look at a differant intake, but that's just me. if you want a bullet proof set up 9" or 12 bolt would be the way to go and there isn't that much that can be done to a t5 to make it stronger.

I thought a 396 was a BB, how will those SBC heads fit on it?

I would go for the T56 over the T5 easily. Plus you KNOW it won't blow up on you unless you are really REALLY putting big power through it.

over much discussion yesterday we decided that a 396 (which is done with a 396 stroker kit) wouldnt be worth the money over a 383... so do you guys think that a nice posi unit and gears wouldnt really matter and I would just detonate the rear? Also what intake would you recommend then?

A 396 strocker is 3.875 inch stroke
with 4.030 bore block.
I would put a bigger cam..
It could use more duration
