Question about the zz4/lt4 hotcam
Question about the zz4/lt4 hotcam
I am getting a 9C1 LO5 and I was told with a spring change I could run these. Which springs?
Also is the lt4 hotcam lopey? I know the zz4 cam would be streetable but how much worse is the lt4 hotcam? I want to do a cam swap before the motor goes in and swap heads next summer.

i have the hot cam in my l98 from a vette (aluminum heads). besides springs, you will have to have the valve guides milled down so the retainers don't smash into them and you will need to get screwed in rocker studs put in so they don't pull out. it's not too lopey, it'll idle at 750 no problem. i just ran a 14.9 in my car with an out of tune holley, if you got an lo5 i would ditch the tbi and put a good carb and intake on. no matter what anyone tells you, tbi was designed for economy, not power.

hmm.. good question. i dont know. i wouldn't think that you'd need to do any work but you should call them and ask things like spring rates and max lift, etc. You should probably be able to give them the cam specs and they'll tell you what, if anything, you need to do. with a roller cam engine you dont want to exceed 350# of spring pressure at full lift and i believe #300 with flat tappet.
