Cracked heater pipe?

92 TA 305 TPI. I changed all the heater hoses yesterday and now it seems I have a leak from the pipe that runs along the pass. side. Can I bypass the pipe and just run heater hoses old style? Run the 3/4" from the core to the radiator, and run the 5/8" from the core to the front of the intake manifold and eliminate the valve with vac line attached. To replace that pipe looks like a real PITA. Thanks

Got it fixed. The 3/4" hose from the core to the pipe wasn't on good. My neighbor, airline mechanic with small hands and used to working in tight spaces got the clamp tightend onto the pipe. No leaks now but that is one tough spot to work in, between the firewall and engine.

Keep that neighbor handy. He might prove useful when it comes time to change the plugs. That is a really tight spot for the heater core standpipes, too. The next time I have to do any hose/core work, I'm installing silicone hoses for sure.
