Won't Start, Fuel Pump?

I was in the driveway, and when I started the car it idled really bad for a couple of seconds. If I gave it gas it went up barely and died out. Now it won't start at all. It turns over, but that's it. Fuse for pump is ok. There is no noise coming from the fuel pump. I'm kinda thinking that the pump went out, but I just wanted to see if anyone had any suggestions that I may have overlooked before I drop the tank and spend $80 on a new pump. Thanks

Check the pump relay. Test for voltage at the tank connections or "G" terminal at the ALDL. I wouldn't just drop the tank on a hunch.

I don't mean to sound too stupid on the subject... but where would the fuel pump relay be? I was checking the schematics and they don't really help because they don't show location, but rather just want everything is connected to. I did notice that the relay is attached by an orange wire to the oil pressure sending switch which looks like the coating on the wire has melted a little at the oil sending switch. I was also told that the relay should make a clicking noise when I turn the key. I really don't know exactly what I'm looking for pretty much so any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Haven't checked that, but if you spray starting fluid into the intake it starts temporarily.

Sounding "stupid"?

No one is "stupid" just because they aren't experienced in a particular system. (Well, maybe I'm the exception.) It takes a real, concerted effort to be truly "stupid". Look at the Iraqis - they've been working on it for decades and may have finally succeeded in becoming ultimately "too stupid"...

Look here for your relay:

Thanks a million Vader, I'll check that out asap. Hopefully that solves my problem. I'll save that pic for any future references. I'll post what I find. Thanks again.

try pressing down on the schrader valve (looks like a bike tire valve) on top of the fuel rail in the back (after you prime it on startup). it might have some cover over it but mine didnt.

this sounds like what just happened to me. and it was my pump (i have same car as you too). the mechanic also said he banged on the trunk where the pump is and it turned on for a second so you can try that too.

no fuel was coming out of the valve for me. also i changed the relay but that didnt help, it ended up being the pump.

One more thing you may want to try...should all else fail... Unplug your MAF and see if she stays running (maybe poorly). Just one more thing to try.

Took off the fuel pump relay. It was melted on the inside, so I didn't see any point in checking that anymore. Replaced it and it still doesn't start. Voltage is getting to the pump but not working. I guess the tank comes down. Oh well, I guess sometimes wishful thinking doesn't work. Actually in my case it never does

Went out and bought the pump and strainer today and hopefully it'll be done by Thursday. Thanks for all the replys.
