2 350 proyects, ideas???
hello guys.
as you can see, now i have 2 chevy 350 engines at home, both in need of overhaul (big time),
1- a pre-86 2 piece main rear seal, 4 bolt mains
2- an 87 single piece seal, 2 bolt mains.
any of these, will end ncc. carburated.
tne crank of the pre-86, needs machining, big time, but a have an impecable 327 (1969) crank, i could use if i get the pistons or to use the 350 pistons if i can get shorter connecting rods (which i doubt) is it possible???
which engine would you guys prefer to repair? based on what?
i need some advice before start.
thanks to all for your t ime
Fernando.

Without hesitation, I would go with the '87 block.
One-piece rear main seal, fewer leakage problems.
Roller lifter cam block, roller much better design.
The 327 crank could be used, but you'd need 327 pistons. You'd also be silly to do it (pistons cost more than turning a crank, to say nothing of the loss of displacement). 400 rods are shorter, but not enough.

coming from 2 experienced guys such as yourselfs...
yep, i'll repair the post 87 block, also it seems to have the 1.94 valves on its heads, and some other improvements.
thanks agaig bros.
