You Dad's buddy is an idiot.
Your 670cfm carb is just right for your 305.

i recall looking at a chart thats based on displacement and rpms. for my 350 running around 5500 or 6000, a 600 cfm carb was recommended. seems to me your dads friend would be correct. what rpms are you looking to run this at, and ill try and find that chart.
ummmmmm 305?? thats a negative im running a 350 now check the sig. Its a 210hp LO5 with 9.6:1 compression, l98 cam, holley street dominator intake, holley 670cfm street avenger carb, hedman longtubes, true dual 2.5 exhaust to 2 chamber flows. Im hoping this has about 250hp. the carb i have is recomended for 300-400hp which i will have someday.
5500 is all im taking this motor to...its brand new i dont wanna hurt it. I am also gonna run a 75 shot of n2o pretty soon.

Yeah a 670 VS will be fine for that setup.
I was recommended a 750VS for my future setup, which I had in my sig, if not for the sig nazzis.
Or a 650DP.
