lights dim with brakes

my lights (headlights, dash, dome, ect.) dim everytime i press my brake, even in park. also i sometimes hear a "crack" or "pop" when i press it, but the brakes work fine, when i first got my car i had to replace this little plastic push button piece that operates the brakelights, could this be going out again and some how draining or leaking the power?

the brake lights do draw some power form the system and if your alt is weak youll notice a drop in power. The cracking and poping sounds like you may have a short.

I have a problem similar to that. If the lights are off, and it is in park, then I touch my brakes, my whoile instrument panel lights up. Im thinking its a short (mine and yours) but I dont worry about it.

If the alternator is good, start looking at the power connections. Battery, starter, fusible links, fuse panel bus bars, etc.

The popping sound could be from dirty/worn contacts in the brake light switch too. Replace it again.
