What is that sphere thing in the driver side bumper?

I was looking under the 90 formula, and I noticed a black sphere below the battery. I didn't look to where the the tubes off of it went. What is this for?

Sounds like a vacuum reserve bottle, least that's what I was told, believe it helps open and close the heat/ac vents.

On my car, it's been converted to the dilithium chamber, where the matter/antimatter reactions take place in complete secrecy. That's why I can still run the lame stock cam and heads on the old 305 and still manage to make 15-second runs.

Actually, it is a vacuum reservoir, and it serves the cruise and HVAC controls.
