Problem.. ?

I just traded my quad for a car for my gf... and the guy claimed it is a 350 running 12's in it. Well... its not. I raced somebody with a mid 14 sec car and he pulled VERY slowly. Now, it doesn't seem to have the torque on could expect out of a 350. I think it is a 305. Nonetheless.... for some reason, he is using 70w oil in it. I have no problems cranking it over in the cold(odd)but he told me use that oil only or the engine will blow. He said he was told that when he got the motor redone. Now.. on the back of the oil quart he gave me to show me what kind to get... it said for use on cars running nitromethane.

Last time I pulled up to A-Plus, I put 10$ worth of 87 in. runs fine to me. WHY would you run 70w oil and does anyone else here think this motor is gunna pop? I coudlve swore I smelled a burning smell slightly when beating on it. It may be the gear oil though, because the trans is in bad shape(t-5)

Anyway, ANY help on this is appreciated.... any insight onto what is goin on.

Last I remember... 87 wasnt nitromethane... and a car with number 3's painted on the side (along with BF good. decals) is probaly NOT running 12's (not on this t/a at least)

All I gotta say is GET-O

run whatever "regular" oil you like, something like 5w-30, 10w-30, 15w-30 in dino or synthetic. the engine doesn't need oil made for a fuel engine and if it has problems it isn't going to help for long.

The 70W oil is so the engine doesnt constantly blow smoke while its running. I bet there is some sawdust in there too...

Change the oil to something more realistic, like 10-30. If it smokes, the motor is done (which wouldnt suprise me, from what you describe).
