Oil pressure gauge freaking out

I just drove my 91 Formula from my home near Dayton, OH to Indianapolis and back. I noticed on the way back that my oil pressure gauge was freaking out and jumping all over the place. It will sit at a certain pressure for a few seconds, then it will jump and max out to the right for a second, then it will go back down, then it will jump up a little, then back down... and it just goes all over the place. What the heck....?

Max indication = max sender resistance, which also = disconnected wire.

Check the wire; if it's OK, you need a sending unit.

Another thing it could be is a lose connection. I know mine will go a little postal now and then and it is just because the connection is getting loose.

At the sending unit. Behind the distributor.

it may also be a loose wire behind the gauge.
