what is 144inch lbs. in ft lbs.? My torques wrench doesnt do inch lbs..


what is the calculation?

12"=1' so just divide the inches by 12 to get ft.lbs.

putting a 144lb force on a 1" long wrench is the same as putting a 12lb force on a 12" long wrench

be careful using a torque wrench in the lower 20% of the scale, usually they aren't very accurate in that range. way back when i was in high school i broke a couple of 1/4-20 bolts trying to torque them to 10 or 12 ft/lbs not knowing my torque wrench wasn't good in the low range. now it seems like i have a wrench for every application.
