What is my next best bet for performance?

Right now I have an '87 Z28, 305TPI 700R4. It's got new cap/rotor/plugs/wires, general tuneup stuff, SLP 3 inch y pipe, stock cat, hooker 3 inch aerochamber catback. I'm thinking a 3 inch cat, or else get a piece of 3 inch pipe in there. What else could I do after that for about 160$? This guy at school with a manual BMW 318ti (hatchback lookin coupe 3 series thing) thinks he's the $hit, it's got a 4 banger and is pretty much the slowest/cheapest BMW they make. I think some hondas could beat it too. I want to make absolutely sure I beat him by as much as possible. He kept saying "You wanna trade cars?" and one day I was like "Dude, no. It's automatic anyway" and he was like "Oh.... nevermind" so I wanna take him to school. Any suggestions?

I think he has headers, never heard of an aftermarket y pipe that works with the stock manifolds.
Though I may be wrong.

Yeah, actually, I don't ever recall him saying he had headers, I just never heard of an aftermarket y for manifolds.

No, I don't have headers, this Y pipe is for my manifolds, it's way better then stock. I'm looking for something that'd I can do for about 160$... I'm not looking for insane performance, I just want a 'lil something to be that much quicker.

Headers would probably yield the biggest power gain. Of course I don't know how restrictive the tpi intake is, I'm not a TPI guy. If you do get headers, I would reccomend Hooker Comps pn: 2460 (I think). I have them on mine and they're great. The only thing is they don't make a y-pipe for them so you'd have to modify the on you have or make a custom one. They were about $140 uncoated alst time I checked and like $320 coated (shipped to my house).

I'd get Hooker 2055s before those, and comes with a y pipe, if the y you have now won't work, which I doubt it will. By the time you get a y pipe made it will either equal out or be more.

You can get some hedman headers for $120.00-$140.00....they're the best you can get for the money.

Umm, are those the shorties or long tubes? I know the LT's are $104, but he will want shorties, and the Hedman shorties don't come with a y pipe, and I doubt the SLP one will fit those headers.
