Sounds like a torque converter shield to me, I'd check the bolts to it, make sure they're not loose on the converter.

So if I take that shield off, my torque converter is up under there?

if tranny fluid is leakin from under there, what would it be,, the torque converter? do those go bad? or start leaking?
Somthing,,

Pull off the cover. You'll see the torque converter.

Probably the front seal in the tranny is leaking.

Yeah, exactly what I was thinking. Yes, you would have to drop the tranny down to fix the front seal if it's leaking. I'd make SURE that's where it's leaking from, before you do it.

call some local garages from the yellow pages to get an idea what it'd cost you. prices and labor rate vary a lot form area to area.

if it is the converter seal leaking while you have the tranny out I would put a rear main seal in it too since its right there.
