The old fabled tail from the fiero and z24 and I think the VW bug that the yellow ones are faster due to much lower drag forces cause that particular brand of yellow lays so flat and smooth where other paint is like sand paper to the air in comparsion.
Anyone find their yellow Thirdgen a tad faster for no reason???

I think that tennis-ball fluorescent yellow-green color is the best... gotta be why I see so many Acuras and such that are painted that color. After all, those guys know what they're doing, don't they.

Shhhh!

Keep it down, will ya? That's supposed to be a military secret! Only the aircraft that are built for public viewing have the faded teal/gray paint scheme. All the REAL combat aircraft are painted the brightest yellow imaginable... and have wings on their tails! I believe Minute Rìce gets a royalty for every one of them, too.

Just a little BS but im sure there is some sort of a real story behind it that the history channel has left on the cutting room floor.

This color business is factual. After Mark Twain swabbed his river boat with yellow paint, his races against other boats on the Mississippi became the stuff of legends (ETs and 60-foot times were nothing short of incredible). I recommend '57 Plymouth Canary Yellow. My repainted 54 Chevy six-banger (circa 1967) was a flat-head V-8 killer!

um, yeah, like when Jim Carrey is moving his arms back and forth in Dumb and Dumber and claims it makes him feel like he's moving at an "incredible rate".
Yellow paint.
Wouldn't just cleaning the bug guts off of the car improve et's?

its as simple as this: painting a car yellow will make it go faster because it's running scared. case closed

If the theory that the yellow paint lays down smoother than other paints is actually true, I think it would make a car run slower than faster. Take swimming and sharks for example. Swimmers usually shave their entire bodies so air bubbles don't get caught in their hair and slow them down. The idea is to move through the water with the least resistance possible. Although this has worked for a long time, swim suits are starting to be produced that aren't totally smooth. They're more like a shark's skin. It has been discovered and proven through race times that the water flows much better over this surface than over bare skin. So all in all, a completely smooth surface doesn't seem to be the optimal situation at all. Golf ***** are another good example. Once dimples started getting put on them, not only did better control result, but the ***** got hit much longer than their undimpled predecessors.
Just something to think about. Anyway, back to mocking the turbo yellow paint job.

Silly Wabbit, of course you have a good theory there. That's why some people claim that polishing heads too smooth is a bad idea.
But that's no fun.
Ukraine is wrong. Hunter orange isn't the first thing that the human eye catches......it's actually clevage! That's why Bras are bad for paint on a car, all of the eyes looking at them actually creates wear and tear on the paint job, not to mention that cops see you first.
I mean, even seeing a bra strap protruding from an attractive woman's shirt sleeve is eye catching, much less the whole thing!

I was toying with the idea od re-doing all my stripes in bright yellow reflective paint to add a few HP but Do I was that kind of attention.
I got the stock black bird with orange and silver stripes down the sides.
Like to drop the orange and just go with the stock silver color. I put racing stripes on the hood in the stock silver and to hide my not so great body work when I put the 68 bird scoops into the hood for ram air.
A black and yellow version would just scream power and the police might notice me more.

i think this has went along far enough and i do belive there may be some merit to what color a car, or engine is painted, or not painted at all. remember in 1944 the army stopped painting aircraft because of the extra weight and drag the paint created and they figured the ertra speed was more important than the camafloge (sp?) from the paint.
