Do I keep the Roc? (must haves in a Thirdgen)

Hey everyone - I finally have my car here in Chitown, so it's time to pick up where I left off. It's good to see Vader and RB and RedDevil (and lots more I'm sure) are still posting here...

My question is: what would you consider terminal to your thirdgen (ie buy another one)? Mine has rust but it's not so far gone that it can't be fixed. The last time I had it aligned he couldn't set it to - 1/2' degree camber and instead said the passenger side couldn't be set lower than + 1/2' camber. Unless the guy's full of it, this leads me to believe I should look for a better starting point in a thirdgen if it's already that mangled.

Pros of my car:
-Relatively untouched performance-wise, except for what I've done.

- Rock solid 305 (even with high miles) meticulously maintained. (so it should run until I have time/resources to get nuts with the engine) and a decent 700R.
- I have a lot more $$$ to enhance the car versus when I was in school.
- Still fun to drive, and I've done virtually ALL the work for years exactly how I wanted it done.
- I'm now in Chicago with access to limitless performance/machine shops, etc.

Cons:

- Misalignment?
- Needs some rust fixed
- Needs a lot of interior parts, and various other chintsy plastic parts (eventually a new front clip/bumper)
preferably replaced with more durable aftermarket stuff.
- It only has the 15" wheels, although this could be good to fit drag radials.

Two other factors enter in here:

1. I now must park on the street.
2. Anything nice I put on the car therefore WILL be stolen.
3. It's COLD out there.

(note to self: re-enable VATS and purchase stun gun)

So, even though we all love thirdgens, and keeping in mind they virtually scream "steal me or whatever nice is in me" to theives, what would you do with this car?

Thanks for any advice, and I look forward to reading and posting again on Thirdgen.org, you guys roc!

thirdgens are cheap, look around and see what you can buy another one for and compare to the cost of fixing yours

thanks ede, it's good to see you're still on too! but i'm worried about the alignment thing - what could be wrong to prevent the camber from going under +1/2? It's not a huge deal NOW, but if I build this into a beast it will always irk me....

thanks again

If the engine is good keep it as your daily driver and get something else you can really go nuts with.
