I searched around for answers but couldnt find any. I am installing this, and I ran into a problem. It seems like I have all the wires hooked up correctly. But when I turn it into the start position, the starter spins, but the gear doesnt retract to make contact with the flywheel. What could be my problem? Thanks in advance.

 

if the starter spins ,its not a wiring prob. sounds like the bendix is going bad on the starter. i'm not sure if you can still buy just that part. if not it might be time for new starter

 

I have taken apart a couple starters, and many solenoids, which part is the bendix. Thats the little lever that is at the bottom of the solenoid? Is there a way to fix this?

 

did u put a jumper on the starter connecting the two terminals, this is the only way it will work

 

Power from the remote relay is transfered to the main post on the starter. Under factory connections there is always power at that post and nothing happens until a power supply is sent to the S connector.

You're just disconnecting that power with a remote relay. A short jumper wire/bar is run from that main post to the S terminal. When the remote relay is activated power goes to the main post on the starter and to the S terminal at the same time. This engages the bendix and spins the starter.

The original wire going to the S terminal now activates the remote relay and the original battery cable on the main post of the starter is now on the hot side of the relay.

If it's wired properly then it should work.

 

Yeah man, I did all of that. I am going to have to throughly check over my connections, but I think I got it right. Than, I will trake off this whole assembly and mess with it. THEN! It will work. thanks guys,
