Do you really need EGR on a TBI car?

I've got a performer intake without an EGR provision that I would like to use. Is there any way I could use it? I will be doing a head and cam swap (416 heads and hopefully an LT1 cam) on my LO3 real soon and I already had this intake in my part stockpile. I know there will be a SES code issue but will it hurt performance, engine life, reliability, and gas mileage? Thank you for any info.

P.S. I know that the LT1 cam has a ground in EGR.

Is TBI really necessary on a car with EGR?

Aside from the codes, it should work.. you may have trouble with spark knock sometimes though.

Since you may want to burn a custom PROM for your car after the cam swap, you could remove the EGR error codes.

I know where you can get a lt1 cam for cheap. Check my sig.

Im pretty sure the lt1 cam has a self EGR provision or something. You sure the performer is for your year heads? 87 and up?

So far, my experience is the TBI heads cause knock at WOT before the lack of EGR can cause ping at part throttle.

I am also swapping heads to the 416's. I don't want to mess with the swirl port heads. The 416's that I got have the old intake bolt pattern.
