harmonic balancer

Does anyone have a pic of a harmonic balancer installation tool, or can you tell me where to get one? Also, what is the best way to put the crankshaft sprocket on? I borrowed the removal tools from Autozone but they said they dont have anything to put the balancer back on. The guy said just tap it on with a piece of wood and then pull it the rest of the way on with the bolt that holds it on.Isn't there a great risk of damaging the crank with this method, besides, I know they make a tool for this.

I made my own a couple of weeks ago.

I took a 8 mm thick plate and drilled three holes ( so that the bolt fits into the damper).

Then I welded a big (M16) nut in the middle( if you just want a installation tool you will be fine with just a hole)

Then fasten the "plate" on the new damper and use a long bolt with washer and just pull it on the crank.......

I can email you pics of it tomorrow if you like......

The installation tool consists of a piece of 7/16"-20 threaded rod about 5" long; a nut of the same size; and a stack of big, thick hardened washers, bigger than the hole in the balancer where it goes over the crank. Screw the rod all teh way into the crank as far as it will go, and use the nut & washers to draw it onto the crank.

don't just use the bolt to draw it in, you will strip out the threads in the crank. sad to say i;'ve done it . use the all thread method
