HELP! CAr died!
Ok, I was racing a Jetta last night . From off the line, I dropped it in 2nd, it reved to like 5000 (Iknow Stupid) And the car just died. I tried starting it, but it won't turn over, just kinda ticks. Any ideas?

Could you expand a bit on the details of the car's death?
Did it shut down and stop like you had turned off the ignition, make a horrific thunk, slowly lose power?
There isn't much info to go on right now.

Sorry, Yeah it just shut off like the ignition died but it didn't. I just got it back from the shop and they put in a new starter. But, I think i did some serious damage from reving to hard. The mechanic said the engine is on it's way out due to a clicking sound coming from the engine. I didn't believe him till I drove it home, it seems to have lost a lot of power. BTW, it's got 125,000 miles.

I never would have guessed that the starter was the issue considering that it was running when it died!
Revving to 5000 RPM shouldn't be the end of the world to any small block, but if the valve springs are bagged you may have floated the valves severely and banged up the valvetrain a bit.
If you're still running the original timing chain that would be worth looking into, if not replacing before it goes on you.
