leaking head gasket?

a nice maybe 7 inch diameter oil puddle forms when the cars parked.. its off to the passanger side dripping off the side of the bell housing.. the valve cover doesnt appear to be leaking and the area around the rear main is pretty dry and since theres no flywheel cover on it i'd expect it to leak right from it anyway.. no oil in the coolant or coolant in the oil... any ideas? back of the intake gasket? head gasket?

Probably not the head gasket. Could be the rear of the intake. The intake seal is large enough of a slot to turn a car into the Exxon Valdez like you seem to have.

Is the smog pump gone off this motor?

There's a good reason I asked about the smog pump...

It's my favorite motor-swap mystery oil leak.

Look at the front of the block, to the pass side of the timing cover. There are 2 bolt holes down low, one right at the bottom edge of the block, one about 3" above that. The upper one goes right into the crankcase; if you look in there, you can see the fuel pump drive rod. Make sure there's a bolt in that hole. It MUST BE SHORT: about ¾" max, with a flat washer or something on it; and a little silicone on the threads. If that bolt is not there it will spew oil like Mount Pinatubo at RPMs above 3000 or so, but not leak at idle. If the bolt is too long it will bind against the fuel pump rod and the pump will not work and the engine will not run.
