What needs to be done to get 400-450hp

I plan on building up an older 350. I have a holley Stealth ram on the way, and a Mufflex exhuast system planned. my questions are....

What heads? (stealth ram is not vortec friendly)
What cam?
What type pistons?
Valvetrain?
I want something that spins up quickly and easily making good power the whole time. Later on in the car's life it may see a Supercharger, so I don't want to run some high compression ratio.

Some AFRs or Pro Lightning heads should be a good idea.

you can get more info on the Pro Ls, here www.procylinderheads.com

mark, your such a post *****. is your engine back together yet?

back to the topic, if your gonna supercharge it, you probally want pistons with 8.5-9.5 compression ratios depending on the sombustion chambers of your heads. Probally wanna go with forged pistons too. balance the rotating assembly, get some 5.7" (stock) rods rated at a little over whatever you plan to be making (rated at 500hp for 450hp or so, higher if your gonna supercharge it, just to be safe). decent size cam, probally a 274 grind or larger from whatever cam company you like. take a pick at a manifold you like, team G, stealth, rpm, victor junior...match it to the cam's rpm range, probally gonna want a 750 carb. doesn't take much to make 400hp, just build it to handle a little more than you expect it to ever make and you should be ok, if you skimp on parts, your gonna regret it later on when you add more power to it.
