leaky oil plug??????how bad is this?

hmmmm...i'm a bit worried...it seems my oil plug is starting to leak just a little. it didn't used to at all, and i stress this is small...i don't lose much oil at all, but the oil plug is a little "damp" with oil, as if it is "trickling" out<-----seems as if the plug isn't making a good seal.

should i just get a new oil plug, or is my problem gonna be bigger than that??

They have a actuall gasket for the drain plug itself. You should be able to buy these at your local automotive store. That should fix you up. But a new plug isn't that much $$ anyway. Not a huge thing to worry about, just replace it and off you go. That is as long as you are sure it is the plug. Go get your Oil changed at Walmart and they probably have one right there for you.

Depending on the year and engine, you may have a plain steel drain plug that used a nylon washer to seal, or you may have an undercut plug with an 'O' ring seal. The next time you change your oil, take a close look under the head. If there is on groove or 'O' ring, you need the nylon washer. If there is a ring, inspect it closely for damage.

Just adding that if you do have the separate nylon washer style... Throw it away. It will always leak a little. Go with the newer style O-ring plug.
