Car stalls and idles high.

I have a 91 Camaro RS 5.0 305 TBI

Car ran fine. I swaped in 350 heads from a 96 truck, put in a crane cam, headmen headers, and performer intake.

Car idled high and stalled. So I figured there was a intake leak. Use some start fluid, find one. So pull off the intake put new gaskets on and silcone the hell out of it.

Now I still have the same problem... I check for intake leaks, can't find any...

Thought maybe my TPS sensor was bad, so I replace that, didn't help...

Right now the codes I pull are:
32 - EGR failure - I just ripped it all out cause I have the headers now, Was there any special I need to do?
33 - MAP (Volts Hi/Low Vac)
42 - EST
43 - ESC

I forget if it's 42 or 43 that pulls the code when I disconnect the brown/black wire t o set timing, but I'm sure that's why I pulled that code.

Also the car runs like ****. It seems like I'm only on 7 cycl or the timing is very retarded(it isn't). I just replaced all my plugs before the swap, so I would assume they are all fine..

Any ideas anyone...

B-Mar,

I can probably solve the EGR code for you. The ECM expects to see current flow to the EGR solenoid when the solenoid is supposed to be opened (actually, duty-cycled, but close enough). If there is no solenoid connected, there is no current. You could solve that half of the problem by installing a 150 ohm 1 watt dropping resistor in the place of the solenoid. The other problem with that is that the ECM also expects to see a MAP change when the EGR is commanded open, and I don't know how to get around that one short of a custom EPROM.

The same may be true of your high MAP (inadequate vacuum). The aftermarket cam may have just too much duration and overlap to allow correct idle vacuum, setting the error code. Again, the best way around that is with a custom EPROM. Most speed-density cars (TBI is included in that category) are sensitive to cam changes and your results are not unusual.

Sounds even simpler than that.

Look for a giant vacuum leak.

There are no vac leaks, I checked everywhere! only place there COULD be a leak is on the bottom of the intake where I can't get at to spray starter fluid to check. But I did silicone the hel out of the intake and don't see how it could be leaking..
