Clicking from under dash when brake pedal pressed

When I hit the brakes, I hear an erratic clicking from under the dash. It sounds like a relay clicking, it doesnt have any sort of pattern to it. Is there a relay or something for the brake lights under the dash?

It didnt used to do it, just recently started. I guess tomorrow I will look under the dash for any relays and see if they are bad.

I had a weird ticking noise like yours. It turned out to be the alternator kicking the bucket, although it can also be a certain relay under the dash. It made the choke dash light blink off and on.

Get underneath your dash and look at the top of the brake pedal. There's two switches there. One's for your cruise control, and the other is for your brake lights. I found out the hard way, going to Connecticut from NJ. My break light switch broke!
