Should I bother with Ram-Air TPI box?
I plan on getting a Ram-Air II hood on my '91 Formula during this winter. I want a functional setup. GTAuto Accessories (link above in banner) sells a ram-air box for TPI cars but it doesn't look like the underside of the hood makes it a true functional ram-air setup... I'm thinking at best it'd be a really good cold air intake. Should I get this tpi box or would I be wasting my money? Does anybody know if someone makes a true direct ram functional setup?
Here's the setup I've got now.

I think it would look kinda funny to open the ram-air hood on my car to reveal a cone filter on the side away from the ram nostrils. I'm not really for non-functioning mods most of the time, though I understand a ram-air hood is mostly cosmetic anyway, but still... can anyone answer my questions?
Thanks all.

well the intake you have now looks like you are sucking hot underhood air anyway. it may not be restrictive, but you arent geting cold air. if i were you i would do one of two things. get the ram air setup with the hood. or cut a hole in that battery tray(i have a camaro my battery is over there) and extend the filter into the hollow cavity just below the tray. it wont be ram air, but it will be cold because the filter will be isolated from underhood temp. i was thinking about doin the same thing (accept on the drivers side for my camaro) for my iroc. i think i would do the latter if i were u. it would be alot cheaper and maybe less cluttered.

Well, I'm probably getting the hood regardless of my induction setup. So if I can make it functional I'd prefer to.
