gasket question

What type of valve cover gaskets should I get, I'm getting Felpro, but do I need the 5/32 rubber or what? Stock 350 heads, chrome steel valve covers and 1.6 Comp Cams roller rockers.

What brand are those? I ordered some when I ordered my rockers and got Fel-Pro 1648, they are 1/4 inch thick steel core cork-lam. Was this not a good choice? Should I have got the rubber ones?

That's a Fel-Pro number, not th e"performance" line, just the over-the-counter replacement product line.

I will not put cork in a motor.... we all will say it doesn't matter is a leaf or a blade of grass happens to get inside of a motor anywhere, because the conditions in there will dissolve it in no time. So what is cork anyway? Tree bark. Stone Age.

Go to Auto Zone and get a set of VS 12869R gaskets, not just plain VS12869 which are just like what you've got, make sure they have the R. "Type R" gaskets.... yeah right

Thanks for the info, I didn't like the looks of them when I got them. The stock gaskets were rubber and still were not leaking after 12 years. It also did not seem like they used any gasket sealer from the factory, do these gaskets need gasket sealer ? Probably a dumb question but I havent changed any valve cover gaskets in years and they were cork and definitly needed sealer. (permatex)
