This happens (so far as I've noticed) on a high speed curve.
(I'm not on the brakes)

Any ideas?

Check the fluid in the rearend. pull the plug and stick your finger in their. the oil level should be just under the fill hole. also, if you have a limit slip(or posi) rear then the proper additive has to go in when doing a fluid change.

take the rear wheels off and check for rubbing in the inner fender well. Sometimes the tire rubs from the body shifting. if you taking a high speed left turn the right tire would rub and vise versa

 

If this is in your '87 1LE, it should be very easy. That car should have come with a Borg Warner 9-bolt rear axle, so there is a rubber plug in the rear cover for checking oil level. Very easy.

 

Sounds to me like a combination of "audible wear sensors" and slightly loose front wheel bearings. Getting on the brakes should silence it.
