You will have to go to your Local GM dealership and see if they can help you. They can use your Original cylinder to make a new key. EIther way your GM service center is probably the only one that can help you right now. HTH

unless i'm way off any good lock smith should be able to figure out what you need with a "key gun" or what ever they call it.

Most lock smiths don't like to do it, due to the fact you may be stealing the car. Here, where I'm from, most of them won't even copy any car key with out seeing the car and the ownership, and ID of course.

Any GM parts department as the ability to cut a key for you. All they need is a VIN number...as long as none of the locks in the car have been changed.

Ed is dead on. Any good locksmith has access to the same information the dealer has, and they are usually much faster, cheaper, and better quality. Same for VATS keys. Dealers generally get about $27.00 per copy, my local professional locksmith gets $6.00 plus a little something for the governor's retirement/legal defense fund. All they want is proof of ownership, like the registration and your driver's license to verify you didn't steal it. They'll keep records of the activity just in case someone reports it stolen.

EDIT: If you're in a real pinch and have the tools, you can get a replacement cylinder with two new keys. You '82 doesn't have VATS, so a new cylinder is about $12 at AutoZone, Pep Boys, etc.
