I used to live in Jackson... I dunno, but I LOVED living there. I live in Nutley, again, and it's guido-ville. Lots of **** and even the Rustangs are *****. My brother, father, and I have three of the few cars with real muscle in the town. Even though a lot of the muscle in the Jackson area was Rustangs, it still felt better than being surrounded by ****. Originally posted by 89RsPower!

My dad's uncle owns/operates a real mechanic shop in Jersey, I could see where it's located exactly if you like.

Sure that would be helpful, if he can fix the damn car. I do know that it is ABSOLUTELY a carburated engine, I have seen th carburator.Originally posted by 1bad91Z

I had to explain the whole no its not fuel injected thing about 80 times to the mechanics. It is not, and I have the wasted time trying to start the car in the morning to prove it.
I do know where Binghampton is, I have to go through there every time I come to Jersey
I am moving to Ithaca in June, so I wont be too incredibly far from you.The former owner was a real racer nutcase, maybe thats why the car is carburated?

If a mechanic can't figure out that a car's not injected... WOW, he should put down his wrench and go back to school. He has no business being under a hood.Originally posted by IrocUBabe

Have you gotten a chance to snap a few pics of the engine compartment? That'll tell us ALL. Take pics at a few different angles.

To end the FI/carb issue, post the 9th char in your vin, this tells what the car had in it from the factory.
To check the torque converter lock up without having to unplug anything, drive the car and get up to about 50 mph steady speed and lightly push the brake pedal while watching the tach. You should see a few hundred rpm rise initally and it should drop back down when you let off the brakes.

That is the LG4, 155hp motor. I had that in my car.
best I got out of it was 14.9 @ 92mph with a carb and intake.
I'd just keep it running and the swap it out with something like this,

This is my motor that is going in sometime next year.

How many accessories does engine have on the front of it, and is it equipped with air conditioning? If there's three without AC or four with, then you have an AIR pump. Also, on the passenger side of the intake should be a bunch of crap. That's your EGR. If you have all that, then you're set to go with visual stuff already.Originally posted by IrocUBabe

Well, the emissions stuff is really on the intake and exhaust, not on the engine itself. The only exception is some Corvette heads that don't have the exhaust crossover passage and the EGR is different. If you buy any intake and exhaust with a CARB number assigned to it, it's emissions legal for California and all 49 other states.Originally posted by IrocUBabe

Try to fix ICQ.

Cool, all I need it to do is pass inspection, its a 700 hp motor.
"the answer to your first question- engine should be a direct bolt in to your camaro the answer to your second question- in a 2,800 lb car it runs 6.5 seconds in an 1/8th which equates to 10.20 seconds in a 1/4 mile. So in a 2,000lb car should run 5/8ths mile at around 9 second quarters. it is 700 hp naturally
aspirated, I set engine up for nos, but never sprayed it. the engine is brand new, has less than 10 passes.
We'll pull pan and intake for inspection upon payment"
If I pop that engine into my girl she'd be one hella ride heh

Yeah, but will she be streetable, or even street legal? Motors like that tend to be built for high end HP and torque. Under 4000 RPM, though, you might as well have a Civic. Do you plan on this being a car you drive often or even every day? If so, that engine's gonna kill you money-wise. We should chill one day, and I'll give you a crash course in how to design a well balanced, street legal, streetable beast of an engine. Originally posted by IrocUBabe

How about you design me one and I'll send you more pictures
I drive the car everyday, if you're talking about gas I have the money to spare. How else would it cost me?
As far as I am knowing street legal means a car that has passed inspection?

The problem is, if they go for the visual, they're still gonna sniff test the exhaust to make sure that it's not too pollutant. A 700 HP motor probably won't pass inspection.Originally posted by IrocUBabe

My brother used to have an 11 second Mustang that he ran on the street. He got between 6 and 8 miles to the gallon. On the 20 minute trip to my job, he'd go through half a tank, one way. I think he could've eeked a bit more MPG out of it, but he sold it.
This engine only put out about 475HP. Imagine the gas guzzling the 700HP motor would do. Besides, to get that kind of power, the compression is probably sky high, requiring race fuel or additives, and the tolerances on the motor miniscule, so once a little wear happens, you'll have oil consumption galore.
Seriously, if you wanna get down to the details of this, IM me on ICQ and we'll talk about some serious ponies.

just remember before you drop that engine in build up the car for it... lcas, relocation brackets, ford 9 inch rear, subframe connectors, roll cage, etc.. these cars sure do suck if u givem any *****. hehe
