fluidamper and timing

Anybody using a fluidamper have problems with the timing mark? I was just wondering if the TDC mark on the damper is accurate. I have one on my truck and the TDC was about 16 degrees off from the stock timing tab (probably had the wrong timing cover).

My car backfires out of the exhaust and I was wondering if my timing mark could be referenced wrong. I had it set at 6 degrees at idle.

I have one and its marked ok. Maybe your timing tab is screwed up.

Did the old balancer line up ok?

IDK, I bought the car with the damper already installed. It also has an aftermarket pointer. I noticed on the stock damper the TDC mark lines up with the keyway slot. Is this a good way to check if the fluidamper mark is where it's supposed to be?

Yep.

Its around 2 o'clock @TDC on the timing cover. That tab you have is probably the problem.
