trouble codes

Ok the codes that are coming out are 15, 32, 42, and i think 45.

15 is colant sensor which is new but i just disconnected it cuz i 'm running a manual fan switch.. no prob there

32 is EGR or baro pressure sensor... my question is if it is the baro? what do i have to do to fix it? where the hell is it.. my book says its in the same place at the est wire. how can they be the same thing,.... the other thing is.. code 42 is the est wire code! so do i replace the wire or get a new connector? what the hell do i do.. I hate electrical stuff..I might need a new distributer all together... anyway 45 is 02 sensor and there is no prob there. so should i get a new dist? or find this baro thingy or change the egr whoever has any ideas please let me know... I got a 305 TBI L03 trans am
thanx!!

TBI,

First,it always helps to know the engine, year, and fuel system of the car in question. In your case, I have to presume from your user name that you have an '88 or newer car (since you apparently have a TBI) but I'm only a little confused since Trans Ams didn't normally come with a TBI engine.

Whatever you have, if it is a TBI engine, you have no BARO sensor, so your '32' is for the EGR.

There is a strong possibility that all of your error codes are caused by one problem. The '45' is a rich exhaust condition. The '32' is a failure of the EGR valve to open when commanded by the ECM. The '42' is the EST system's failure to contol timing. The key is the '15', or low CTS fault. Disconnecting the CTS causes the ECM to interpret that as the lowest possible temperature it can sense. Since there is no resistance for the ECM to read, it sets an error code and diverts its fuel trim and spark control to the base lookup tables programmed into the EPROM, instead of the Block Learn Memory tables that the ECM has constructed specifically for your engine as you drive. The lookup tables are written to allow your car to at least operate until you can reach a service center. This is commonly called the "Limp Home" mode. The spark tables are severely retarded and the fuel trim is intentionally rich. It seems like the ECM is working fine, and is detecting the spark control problems and rich exhaust due to this mode of operation. The EGR is also dependent on the CTS, since the EGR is disabled in the ECM programming until the engine temperature reaches at least 133°F.

You need to reconnect the CTS so that the ECM can operate the fuel and EST correctly. You can still use a manual fan switch in parallel with the factory relay wiring without causing any problems, but the CTS does a lot more than just operate the fan. After reconnecting the CTS and clearing your error codes, all your problems may be solved.
