I have no computer system on my car. I still have the oxygen scensor, but it just plugs the hole, the wire has been cut off. You do not need it. You could use a bolt or somethin to plug the hole.

yeah, u'll need to wire the pump so that it comes on with the key in the run position and your going to need to put a fuel pressure regulator in and regulate it down to about 8 psi or so

so...
So....the ignition would stay HEI and a person could just put a mechanical fuel pump on? I was thinking about doing that to my IROC 305TPI but.....I want to keep the car somewhat original. The more cube engines go into other cars. The LB9 screams anyways- Thanks again guys-

yes you could convert to a mechanical pump but simply wiring the electric pump to run in the run position and regulate the pressure down is easier considering you already have the electric pump in the tank

fuel
So would the electric fuel pump in the gas tank be in a closed position when it is off? If I were swapping to a 69 400ci motor, could I just remove the LB9 and hook the fuel line to a mechanical fuel pump? Boy, it seems like a lot of trouble to go through to swap to a carb motor, right?
I am full of questions-

Interesting question Ben!
I have a 1977 350 running with a mechanical fuel pump, with the electric one still in the tank. The mechanical pump pulls the fuel through the electric one in my case and runs okay. I even ran the pump up once or twice (fuel line disconnected) to get it into different places when it stopped and it still pulled fuel through.
I have heard of this happening in some cases but not all.
Suck it and see (if you will pardon the pun!).
Andy.

although technically a hei module is electric and not mechanical like an old points dist im not sure if a mech pump would work with a electric one in the tank still or not.. intresting though.. still i'd just use the electric if i knew in good working order Last edited by 89RsPower!; Jan 10, 2003 at 05:02 PM.

Yes, spark is electronically done, but advance and curve are mechanical.

thanks
thanks Andy BTW-my bro lives in London, great place.
Anywho......so I understand that using a mechanical fuel pump on a thirdgen TPI-to-carb motor swap would work but.....
I am still a little confused on if the distributor would be affected by the computer removal and if any modifications would need to be done?
