I just got a new high volume oil pump from summit. It has 2 different springs. One of them i already in it and it says it is the higher pressure spring. They also gav me a stock one.
I remember when my buddy built his 327 we put a high pressure oil pump in it.He kept blowing a gasket.I don't remember which one.
So which spring would you use the high pressure.(70 psi)Or the stock pressure one.

i wouldn't of got a HV pump, but that's just me. i'd run a m55 pump and a mr gasket #26 spring. for what you have i'd run the hp spring. there isn't any gasket that would blow or leak because of the oil pump, that i can think of.

I would think the oil filter gasket might leak with excessive oil press.
A stock oil pump can pump more than half of the eng's oil into the valve covers at high RPM. The HV pump is not really needed for a street eng and will actually reduce the performance of a street eng due to un-necessary drag. Plus they are hard on distributor/camshaft gears, especially with high press springs.
