ram air/ cold air induction

i hope this isnt a stupid qustion but is there a diffrence between ram air or cold air induction? i have an 87 z28 that i put ram air on would it be any diffrence to make it cold air induction if there is even a diffrence?

I believe cold air would just refer to something other than hot engine compartment air. In a cold air set up the intake is routed out of the engine compartment. Example would be a L69 dual snorkel setup.

Ram air would mean the air is forced into the intake. An example of this would be an ss hood set up with a functional scoop.

some people tend to use them interchangeably, but i guess the technical difference is whether the system is designed to pull in air from outside the engine bay (cold air induction) vs. using the airflow against/over the car (which is speed dependent) to force additional air through the intake at pressures greater than the (ostensibly 1atm) ambient pressure.
