Problem with T56 AND HOOKRE LT headers, Please help ASAP

I'm trying to get some second opionions on what to do about this problem. Here are some photos that explain it. The collector is touching the bell housing which will not allow installation of the headers on to the head. What do you guys think? Roy at thirdgenresource said the only way is to either replace with shorty's or grind away. I thought the sme way about grinding but is it safe to grind on the collector or bellhousing?

start grinding the bellhousing and a little off the header flange and see where that gets you. Dont enlarge the holes for the head bolts

I remember reading somewhere that minor grinding is required on the bellhousing with the LTs....I would think this would be the best and easiest solution.
